SERVICES
We all have our ups and downs. However, some are easier to handle than others. Psychological therapy and counseling provides you with the tools you need to deal with the emotions you cannot handle on your own. At Overmire Family Therapy, our therapy and counseling sessions provide you with a safe place with respect, where you can feel comfortable to speak freely without fear of judgment. Our goal is to get you out of therapy and back to your life by using the tools and insights you have gained.
Two major services that our experienced therapists provide to help our patients are couples therapy and individual therapy. Depending on your specific situation, you may benefit from one or both of these services. We are ready to help you with both.

COUPLES THERAPY
Many couples attend couples therapy (also commonly referred to as couples counseling) to weather storms that may have built up over time and to improve their relationships for the better. Most couples attend therapy because they are having trouble communicating. Without an open and strong line of communication, you and your loved cannot enjoy a loving and healthy relationship. Lack of communication can result in:
Either or both couples not feeling heard
Lack of feeling acknowledged
Lack of feeling understood
Lack of intimacy
Driving a wedge that can ultimately result in a break up
At Overmire Family Therapy, our couples therapy sessions provide unmarried, pre-marital, and married couples who are feeling helpless and confused in love with a way to:
Improve communication skills
Promote a healthier and more active intimacy and sex life
Prevent infidelity and affairs
Improve finances
Prevent or deal with addiction and codependency
Deal with family-of-origin issues
Each couples therapy session will be tailored to meet your specific needs and deal with your unique situation. During our sessions, we will:
Identify the specific patterns that resulted in the negative interaction loops
Learn how to actively engage in communication and listening skills
Explore and deal with the negative patterns that prevent you from fully connecting with your partner
Secure a deeper attachment that can ultimately promote a strong foundation leading to a healthier and more loving relationship

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Even if you are having problems with your partner, you may benefit from individual therapy, in addition to or instead of, couples therapy. A healthy life starts with a healthier you. During an individual therapy session, our Overmire Family Therapists will collaboratively create a treatment program that is tailored to meet your specific needs and goals. In a typical individual therapy session, you will:
Gain enhanced coping skills for challenging work and relationship situations
Improved clarity about future goals
Reduced negative self-talk
Let go of your past family and relationship trauma
One of the most important parts of individual therapy is building and enhancing healthy self-care routines and habits to help you self-regulate and self-soothe when you are in distress. At Overmire Family Therapy, our therapists focus their sessions on helping our clients learn how to better take care of themselves in order to take of others better.
In a typical individual therapy session, you will learn how to build a personalized self-care plan to provide you with the tools you need to serve you for the rest of your life. Common areas of focus in an individual therapy session include:
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship and marital issues
Singles and dating
Break-ups and heartbreak
Divorce, affair, infidelity
Assertiveness
Mindfulness
Grief and loss
Life transitions
Feeling “stuck” in a situation
Addictions and codependency
We will meet you where you are in your life and provide you with a supportive and comforting therapy session to help you navigate the transition to thrive in your life while releasing painful patterns from your past.

TELEHEALTH
At Overmire Family Therapy, we are committed to providing access to individual counseling, couples counseling, and marriage therapy in the Greater Los Angeles area. However, not everyone has the time or capacity to make in-person sessions. One way we meet this goal is to offer HIPAA-compliant Telehealth services to clients, not only in Los Angeles but all of California. Telehealth involves both phone and video sessions, which provides our clients with the flexibility to make therapy work wherever and whenever.
This increased access to therapy with Telehealth provides services to individuals who prefer remote therapy and/or for whatever reason cannot attend sessions in person.
Telehealth can and is just as effective as in-person therapy:
Our therapists provide the same therapy during phone and video sessions as in-person, including breathing and relaxation exercises, guided meditations, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, anger management, couples therapy and more.
Some clients are better able to relax and be comfortable with video and phone sessions.
Telehealth allows couples from different locations to attend therapy with more regularity and ease.
